In the not-too-distant past, dentures were notoriously ill-fitting and cumbersome. Today, however, advancements in the field have allowed us to offer extremely natural-looking, secure dentures to restore lost function and improve your smile. Brooklyn, NY, dentist Dr. Charles Grannum is a Board Certified Prosthodontist and can provide you with exceptional care and informed guidance on your treatment options. Advanced computer imaging technology has made it faster and more convenient than ever before to receive dentures that look great and fit comfortably. Dr. Grannum and our team proudly offer AvaDent™ Digital Dentures, which allow us to provide our patients with their customized dentures in just two visits.
If AvaDent™ Digital Dentures are right for you, Dr. Grannum will take impressions of your gums and remaining teeth, and will send this information, along with your dental records, to the offsite AvaDent™ lab. There, skilled technicians will use specialized software to create a digital denture model. This precise model will be used to create your dentures, which are customized to an exacting degree. In addition to fitting snugly and securely, AvaDent™ dentures are made of a dense biohygienic material, which greatly reduces the halitosis and mouth sores associated with traditional dentures.
In the past, properly fitting dentures could require multiple return trips to your dentist’s office for adjustments. Digitizing the process means you can enjoy a fully restored smile in as little as two visits.
In addition to traditional dental prosthetics, we also offer implant-supported dentures. Dental implants are small titanium posts that are surgically embedded into the jaw. Implants can support a number of restorations, like a crown or denture. The benefits of implant-supported dentures are profound. Missing teeth can actually cause your jawbone to recede, but because implants mimic a natural tooth root, they prevent the loss of bone and guard against shifting and loosening of surrounding teeth. As a result, implant-supported dentures not only restore function and aesthetics, but can also maintain your overall oral health for years to come.
Implant-supported dentures can be secured using traditional implants, which require a three- to six-month healing period in between. They can also be supported with immediate-load implants, which are ready to support dentures the same day they are placed. If you choose to receive traditional implant-supported dentures, you will be provided with temporary dentures in the meantime. We offer the AvaDent™ dentures for both traditional and implant-supported dentures, so regardless of the type you choose, you can expect a proper fit and a completely natural look.
