Michael L Bolden DDS FACD is a native of Chicago Illinois, born in 1959. He matriculated from Kenwood Academy, home to Chaka Khan and R. Kelly, in 1977. He is a 1981 graduate of Boston College, majoring in Biology and Psychology. He attended Howard University College of Dentistry along with his sister Kimberley (1983) and cousin Debra Turnquest (1984), where he was Class President and Student Council President. He graduated in 1986 and attended the General Practice Residency Program at Harlem Hospital Center in NYC for two years. He was then accepted to the Post-Doctoral Program in Periodontics at Columbia University School of Dental Medicine, where he matriculated in 1990.

Dr. Bolden started his private practice limited to Periodontics and Implants in Harlem in 1990 and in the Clinton Hill section of Brooklyn in 1991. He taught at Columbia University School of Dental Medicine from 1990 to 2010, where he reached Associate Clinical Professor of Periodontics. He has been an Attending Periodontist at Harlem Hospital Center form 1990 to present, working with the three ADA accredited programs in OMFS, Pediatric Dentistry, and General Practice.
Dr. Bolden has lectured extensively over the past 30 years to organizations such as the First District Dental Society of NY, Bronx County Dental Society, National Dental Association, Pelican State Dental Society (Baton Rouge. LA), Old Dominion Dental Society (Tidewater area, VA). He has been a consultant to pharmaceutical companies such as Orapharma/Collagenex and had a three-year commercial for Sensodyne toothpaste in 2006.
He is a member of the American Dental Association, National Dental Association, American College of Dentists, American Academy of Periodontology, New York Dental Board Trustee, and Omicron Kappa Upsilon, Epsilon Epsilon Chapter (Columbia University). He has been named Attending of the Year at Harlem Hospital Center 8 times over the past 34 years and recognized as a Distinguished Alumni by the Department of Periodontology at Columbia in 2017.
Dr. Bolden has been married to Fran Cook-Bolden, MD, a Dermatologist and Researcher and a Howard Med graduate, for 36 years. They have three children, including twin boys and none of them have followed their parents in the Medical/Dental fields.
