• Scaling and polishing: Removal of supragingival and, when indicated, subgingival deposits using manual or ultrasonic instruments, followed by polishing to smooth tooth surfaces.

• Risk assessment: Evaluation of the patient’s periodontal and caries risk to tailor preventive strategies.
